Manchester City boss Guardiola, who has worked with legends such as Messi, Iniesta, and Xavi Hernández, stated that Cherki ranks among the most gifted players he has ever seen and is sure the youngster will embrace the team-first ethos at the club.

Return from Injury

The 22-year-old, who joined City from Lyon for a fee of £30.5 million just before the intercontinental tournament this past summer, has managed a mere seven games so far. Coming back from a thigh injury, he had a short appearance in the 2-0 victory over Everton last matchday, during which he nearly set up a third for Haaland.

While calling for time, Guardiola was at a loss to put into words the youngster’s qualities, noting that the only concern could be how he adapts into the structure and adapts to doing simpler tasks well.

Inquired if the youngster will adapt into the team ethos, Guardiola responded: “Yes, definitely. Such individuals are very intuitive, very smart. They notice all.”

Kudos for the Midfielder

The City manager also praised Nico, who is expected to play in the heart of the park. Rodri is present back to his old team, and should be to be honoured pre-kickoff at their stadium, but is out with a muscle problem.
